Ever since the season two finale, then the announcement of the season three renewal, Sleepyheads have speculated, debated and fretted over what's in store for Sleepy Hollow's junior year. As news
I'm here to say that it's okay Sleepyheads...BELIEVE! Sleepy Hollow is back, with everything fans missed- the banter between Ichabod and Abbie, the little looks only they share, the Ichabod Outrage and commentary we love so much, the little quips and the Ichabbie connection that makes Sleepy Hollow, our Sleepy Hollow!
As I've previously reported, it's been a year since that fateful day Ichabod killed Katrina and in its wake, he decides to take time for a "walkabout", to figure out where he fits in. Meanwhile, Abbie also leaves town to complete her FBI training and headed to Quantico. Now working at the Westchester FBI offices in Sleepy Hollow, our girl seemingly fits right in and it's clear she loves her new job! Surprisingly it has been nine months since Abbie heard from Ichabod, so things are a little strained upon reuniting. However, they pick up right where they left off, not missing a beat and it's evident they missed each other by the glances and little smiles.
Over the summer many of us speculated on what aspects would change for the reboot of the series. One very animated conversation was what will Ichabod call Abbie? No longer a "Lieftenent", she's an FBI Agent, but one of the endearing qualities between Ichabbie is his nickname for her. And we know from "Tempus Fugit" it's clear she wants him to use it. It's part of the Ichabbie magic. Though I don't want to give you any major spoilers, I will quell your fears that this issue is immediately addressed.
Another topic of discussion during the hiatus was Katrina's enchanted necklace and that she was wearing it when she disintegrated into ashes. We all said that without the necklace, how can Ichabod and Abraham lock horns again since it's the only way to actually see him? I'll give you this little tidbit- somehow, Ichabod still has it! Not sure exactly how other than maybe it just showed up one day at the cabin? Hoping we get some type of explanation as the season unfolds.
Jenny is back and better than ever, eager to give Ichabod and Abbie a helping hand. Apparently she's been trying to figure out her place and even attempted to work as a Paralegal! Somehow I just don't picture her in a law office, but breaking the law is a whole other story! Now she's bartending at the pub where the gang hangs out, happy to give our dynamic duo free beer! LOL
Irving is MIA, as we all well know, Orlando Jones will not be returning and Jenny informs Ichabod that "someone good at slipping in and out of countries undetected" helped him disappear.
I know many fans are concerned about Betsy Ross and the story she shares with Ichabod. We do see her in the first episode via flashbacks and thank God we still get to see Ichabod with his long locks! Obviously it's widely known that Ichabod and Betsy had a "thing", though he denies it when talking to Abbie and Jenny. Mi thinks he doth protest to much and I'm anxious to see the reaction of her introduction on twitter during the broadcast!
C. Thomas Howell appears in the premiere episode as Abbie's FBI boss, however, by the end of the episode things will change. Another new face is Abbie's assistant at the FBI who notices and gawks at Ichabod (much like Sleepyheads LOL) with her attraction clearly evident! Not sure how I feel about this or how it will play out. We'll have to keep watching but I'm hoping it's not anything to worry about Ichabbie fans!
Finally, as described in earlier press releases, a woman named Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) hits town. I can confirm there is a Pandora's box and she definitely is mysterious, with a plan of some sort. Although it initially seems diabolical in nature, I'm not sure which side of the fence she's on- good or bad? It all remains to be seen.
The S3 premiere episode will remind fans why they fell in love with Sleepy Hollow. There are a few flirty moments between Ichabod and Abbie that Sleepyheads will adore, as well as an Ichabbie hug. The episode reminds me of my favorite from season one, "Midnight Ride", as Ichabod is introduced to an eatery seemingly from Colonial times- it's hilarious! The chemistry and spark between Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie jumps off the screen, echoing season one in spades. Although the Headless Horseman will not be on this season, the storyline is most definitely about him! The underlying mythology is the second tribulation from the Book of Revelations but what evil lurks, stalking The Hollow? You'll have to tune in October 1st at 9 p.m. on FOX to find out!
